Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) in Breda, the Netherlands with the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning and the Division of Digital Learning at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, Florida, have partnered to present the first annual Teaching and Learning with AI in Europe conference.

Teaching and Learning with AI in Europe Logo

Our goal is to establish cross-border collaboration in Europe to share ideas, best practices, and innovations in artificial intelligence in higher education.

Join us in Breda, Netherlands, 19-20 October 2026!

Who is the teaching and learning with AI in Europe conference for?

Teaching and Learning with AI in Europe is designed for university professionals, lecturers, researchers, and policymakers from Europe and beyond who are interested in exploring the potential of AI in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) classrooms.

Whether you’re advancing AI in pedagogy, research, or institutional innovation, this event offers a unique opportunity to explore real-world applications and exchange ideas with colleagues across the European higher education landscape.

Call for Proposals

The call for proposals for the 2026 conference is now open!

Participants from all sectors of the higher education area are encouraged to submit proposals for short presentations or posters related tp the practice of Artificial Intelligence (AI) use in college teaching across all modalities (face-to-face, blended, and fully online). At this conference, we can consider AI-generated text, AI-generated images, and other AI-generated digital products. While other conferences may focus on the research of AI development and programming, this conference is intended to serve the community of frontline faculty members and lecturers across all disciplines, librarians, administrators, instructional designers, and faculty developers in the practice of AI use in higher education settings.

Session Tracks Include:

  • Practical AI Tools/Agents and Implementation
  • Ethics, Policy, and Governance
  • AI in Pedagogy and Curriculum Design
  • Institutional Strategy and Leadership
  • Assessment and Academic Integrity
  • AI Applications in the Workplace
  • AI Fluency and Faculty Development
  • Universal Design and Accessibility with AI
  • Art, Design, Media

Note: Since this is primarily a conference on sharing practices (more ideas rather than research), these sessions are short. Additionally, priority will be given to proposals that offer clear ideas for take-aways that participants can use in their own teaching, as well as sessions that appeal to many disciplines. Keep in mind that AI will continue to develop and evolve.

This event which is face-to-face only, currently offers two formats for presentations:

  • 30-minute sessions that spark discussion on complex questions in college classrooms or libraries.
  • Poster sessions that will feature visual presentations on both research and/or sharing topics. Posters may only be print.

Participants are limited to only being part of two presentations (and can only once be the main presenter). Companies that are not sponsors may only present a 30-minute interactive session or poster if they are joined by a frontline faculty member or librarian.

The following information will be required as part of your proposal:

  • Speaker information (ex: name, email, institution, position) for author and any co-authors attending
  • If applicable, co-authors who are NOT attending but you would like to include on the program
  • Type of session
  • Conference track (choose up to three)
  • Proposal title
  • Abstract (50-100 words); optional: may include up to three keywords at the end (#example1, #example2, #example3)
  • How is your presentation transferable to participants? (50-100 words)
  • How do you plan to engage the attendees? (50-100 words)
  • Three biggest takeaways participants can expect

The deadline to submit a proposal is 11:59pm on 15 May 2026. Acceptance decisions will be sent out after 29 June 2026.

For questions or concerns, contact us at TLWAIEU@BUas.nl or teachwithai@ucf.edu.

What can I expect at this AI conference in Europe?

Unlike traditional academic conferences, Teaching and Learning with AI in Europe embraces an unconference spirit – where around 300 attendees don’t just listen, they shape the conversation. Expect dialogue-driven sessions, collaborative workshops, and dynamic exchanges between educators, researchers, and policymakers.

AI is Here to Stay: How are You Going to Plan Your Courses with It?

Whether you’re a teaching faculty member, educational developer, instructional designer, instructional technologist, librarian, or administrator, AI’s role in education is becoming more prevalent in our work.

  • Pedagogical Approaches to Incorporate AI in Teaching and Learning
  • Digital Learning and Online Instruction

  • Assessment and Evaluation Methods
  • Teaching Models
  • AI and Accessibility
  • AI Applications in the Classroom Besides ChatGPT
  • Student Success and Retention
